How to use it
- Choose or drop a photo. It stays on your device.
- Drag the photo to place your face in the circle, and use Zoom to frame it.
- Check the round previews at real sizes: the large one, the size of a channel page, and the tiny comment size.
- Pick the export size and format and press Download.
Why a square file for a round picture
Almost every platform asks for a square image and cuts it into a circle when it shows it. Anything in the corners is lost, so keep your face or logo in the middle and leave a little space around it.
Sizes that work everywhere
YouTube shows a profile picture at about 98×98 pixels and accepts files up to 15 MB (JPG, PNG, BMP or a still GIF). Other platforms show it at similar sizes. An 800×800 export is sharp on high-density screens and small enough for any upload form; choose 400×400 for a smaller file or 1080×1080 if a platform asks for it.
The smallest preview, about the size of a picture next to a comment, is the real test: if you can't recognise yourself there, zoom in.
Questions
- Can I export a round PNG?
- Yes. Tick Round with transparent corners. Most platforms crop the circle themselves, so a square file is the safer choice.
- What happens to transparent areas?
- In JPG they're filled with the background colour you choose; PNG keeps them transparent.
